A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Summary

Umbra is a journey into a bizarre dream. You must drift through the odd nightmare that is Umbra, listen to sounds, look for clues and work your way through this confusing, repeating nightmare.

Recommendations

  • Headphones are advised for the best experience as Umbra makes use of 3D spatial audio.
  • If the game is laggy, reduce the resolution in the graphics settings. Leaving fullscreen and V-Sync enabled is advised. You can view the FPS at any time with Control+H.
  • Warning for those sensitive to flashing lights: this has quite a few of them.

Development

Hello, everyone - Marc here. It's been a while! This is my first official release since The Curse of Blackwater back in 2013 and Slenderman's Shadow in 2012. I took a break from game development after the Dusk Kickstarter didn't meet its target and graduating from university in 2016 (it turns out a job really eats up your spare time).

The current quarantine situation left me pretty bored and unable to do my usual hobbies so decided to pick up Unity again to see what kind of cool features had been added in my absence. I began to experiment with the new engine features, one thing led to another, and here we are :)

Umbra is a re-imagining of an original title by the same name created by  PeanutButterFingers back in 2006 with the FPS Creator engine. His game was groundbreaking for the engine and made a big impact on the community at the time.

Very interesting game! I loved the unique feel of each segment. I feel like this lays the foundation for a much more expansive experience! I enjoyed this!

Thanks Adrionic, enjoyed your playthrough!

Hey Marc, same question. Is this game playable on a low end pc?

Hey Terrorose. I actually developed this on my baseline MacBook Air and heavily optimised it during development to run smoothly. You can use Control+H to view FPS and reduce the game resolution if it's running below the desired framerate. Looking forward to your playthrough if you do one!

Okay then, I'll go play it when I have time. There's to many choice of game to play here.

It's 64 bit, guess I can't play it then.

Is the game finished and needs no more updates?

The game is finished and there are no planned updates other than bug fixes or small adjustments at the moment.

Short but interesting, wish it was longer

Thanks for playing, you owned the lights section!

The game's interesting and polished as well. Though there are certain areas that could use a bit more of map level guidance to help the players out. (Mainly the blinking light area). Otherwise, great game.

Here's my channel for other games I have played. http://www.youtube.com/c/Levont
